Status Who?

I'm having a good day. It's the first of ten days off. I got drunk last night with GayBoy. We embraced youth and went for a run to the candy store-- errrrr, I mean gas station. I laughed as we left the apartment, me having just grabbed a $20 bill to cover our expenditures, and I said to GayBoy, "Gee. I should drink more. Here I am, wondering if $20 is enough to buy the candy we want."

First thing this morning, I had more company, this time over for breakfast. On the menu? Mimosas. Yes, you know it's a holiday when your first priority is a mango-passionfruit mimosa. Mmm.

Anyhow, it has me doing an awful lot of thinking about lifestyle choices. I'm not really at the point where I want to discuss what I've been thinking, but I'm just questioning certain things and wondering where I can improve. Every now and then I start to ponder The Meaning of It All and what certain choices really lead to down the road. You know the proverbial fork in the road? Each path leads to an entirely different place? Yeah, well.

But, hey, I'm on holidays, and I always like to live the examined life when I'm taking some time to myself. When life is whirling past you in a mix of socializing and working for da man, it's sort of hard to find a calm enough moment to take a position of scrutiny over your life. I like to seize the rare opportunities to do just that, and I certainly don't feel I've really had the time to write of late.

Truth be told, I feel like I'm bubbling over inside to write. It's kind of like the pressure cooker; you gotta release the pressure before you can release the lid. Same thing with writing. Gotta write a lot before you can get to the good stuff after a period of building things up like I've just experienced.

Tomorrow I have specific writing goals. You should probably check back often over the next two weeks, because I intend to write a lot. Well, if you care, that is. But of course you do. Happy weekend, people. Time to enjoy the silence. And Little Miss Sunshine... and maybe a mimose. Or two.
