So Short! So Cruel!

For the last several years, I've spent 80% of my life working four days per week. These two-day weekends are cruel enough to begin with, but then they go and steal an extra hour of it for the time change. Gads!

So, here I am, Monday morning, exhausted and drained. Mmf. Back in line for another kick at the can, just like any obedient serf would be. I'm not much of a morning person, either, and my brain might know it's 7:35, but my body's screaming at me for cruelly being awake before 7.

Then there's the wind storm, which will make riding my 150-pound Eurotrash scooter over the high-reaching, broad bridges over the Fraser River a bit terrifiying this morning. Fun! It's always a joy to be white-knuckling it as stiff 60k-per-hour cross-winds whip over the former farm plains of the Vancouver Int'l Airport and punitively lash against the tall-standing, 1.5 mile-long monster bridges over the Fraser River, where itty bitty scooters seem somewhat out of place. I'll carry my lucky marble with me. That'll protect me!

On the upside, I know I'm finally well enough to play with others, so my best friend's coming over tonight armed with beers and I'll be providing the big'ol beefy burgers for our Bauer Hour of Power. If there's one thing good about the uberviolent new season of 24, it's that it's the perfect antidote to a Monday.

This week I'll be trying to force myself to write more during the work days. I need to find a way to get the writing working during my work week. It used to be so easy to come home from a braindead day of captioning television and then write. This working-with-kids-and-parents in a fast-paced school thing isn't even in the same brain-usage ballpark.

Here's hoping your body's fighting less with you than mine is with me on this Monday morning. And look, I can lie in bed for 10 more minutes before I need to dress... So, I think I'll do that.
